Christmas Reading Challenge

I have handed out a Christmas Reading Challenge for students to complete over the holidays.  Hopefully they will find fun ways to read over the break.  I challenge each student to fill their "mug" with 10 marshmallows.  Each marshmallow is worth 20 minutes of reading.  The Christmas Reading Challenge is due Thursday January 12th.  Those that complete the challenge will be rewarded with Hot Chocolate and Timbits on Friday January 13th.  Enjoy getting cozy and snuggling up with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate!
For those that didn't get an early copy yesterday and missed out today, I have one for them when we return in the new year.  Here is a picture so you have a good idea of what we are doing.

Merry Christmas!
Love, Miss Beardsley

ornament dough recipe

A few students have asked for the recipe for the dough we used to make our handprint ornaments.

Here is the link to the recipe I used: http://www.messylittlemonster.com/2014/12/how-to-make-salt-dough-printable-recipe.html

I baked them at 300 degrees for one hour. They recommend cooking it at 200 for two hours but with 50 hands to bake I sped up the process- and only overcooked a few :)

Merry Christmas!

Language and Math update

There will be a geometry quiz next Thursday.  Students will be asked to draw and measure angles up to 90 degrees with a protractor, they will need to classify triangles based on side length and angle, and identify 3D shapes from their nets.  Students will be given a review in class Wednesday which they can take home to study.  We will begin our study of Data Management on Friday.

Students have mostly completed part 1 (written) of their movie review projects.  We will be completing part 2 tomorrow and will begin presentations next week.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Christmas concert next week.
